I’m Emma, a breathwork facilitator based in The Hague.
I’m Emma Uhlenhopp, a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator with an MSc in Psychology & Neuroscience of Mental Health. My breathwork practice explores how our breathing affects the way we feel — and how we can use our breath as a tool to support our health, well-being, and healing. Our breath is one of the most accessible and powerful tools we carry within us.
Drawing from both scientific understanding and experiential practice, I offer spaces where people can slow down, turn inward, and explore the simple act of breathing with more intention. My approach is gentle and compassionate — creating space for participants to explore the power of their breath at their own pace — and is rooted in the belief that growth and healing occur when we feel truly seen and supported.
Breathwork
Breathing is the essence of life – yet few of us do it optimally. As children, we breathe with ease, our bodies naturally expanding and contracting in a full, unrestricted rhythm. But over time, stress, poor posture, and the fast pace of modern life take their toll, causing our breath to become shallow and restricted. Without realizing it, we spend much of our days stuck in our heads – reliving the past, worrying about the future – leaving our nervous system in a constant state of fight or flight. This chronic stress can manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally, leading to anxiety, fatigue, a weakened immune system, and more.
Breathwork is the practice of consciously working with your breath to enhance overall health and well-being. Rooted in ancient traditions and supported by modern science, it helps regulate the nervous system, cultivate present-moment awareness, and deepen our sense of connection. It’s a simple yet powerful tool for self-exploration and healing – one that has been used for thousands of years to relieve stress, restore balance, and even access altered states of consciousness.
Different breathwork techniques serve different purposes – some are gentle and grounding, easing anxiety and calming the nervous system, while others are more activating, used to boost energy or enhance athletic performance. Breathwork can also support emotional release, help rewire deeply ingrained patterns, and aid in trauma healing.
The beauty of breathwork is that it meets you exactly where you are. As one of the most accessible wellness practices, it requires very little – just your willingness to explore and surrender to the power of your breath. When you learn to work with it, you unlock a profound pathway to transformation – a chance to release what’s no longer serving you, reconnect with parts of yourself you may have pushed into the shadows, and restore a deep sense of stillness and wholeness.
